The origin story
I spent three years in UK care before writing a single line of code
I worked frontline care shifts across supported living, residential, and domiciliary settings in the North West — and I watched the same problems play out everywhere. Staff filling in MAR charts retrospectively at the end of a shift. Managers finding out about missed doses when it was already a safeguarding issue. Night workers on patchy WiFi with no way to record anything properly.
Paper MAR charts weren't just inconvenient — they were actively creating risk for residents, for staff, and for the providers responsible for both. The software that existed was either too expensive, too complex, or too obviously built by people who had never worked a medication round.
I graduated with a First Class degree in Computer Science from the University of Chester in 2026. DoseScan is what happens when you spend three years in care and then learn to build software — everything is designed around real workflows, real constraints, and the real consequences when medication management goes wrong.
The mission
"Care staff should spend their time with residents — not on paperwork."
Every feature in DoseScan is designed to reduce the administrative burden on care workers — so the time saved goes back to the people who need it most.
How DoseScan is built
Three principles that shape every decision — from features to pricing.
Built from inside the sector
Every design decision comes from real experience — not market research. Three years of care shifts inform every feature.
UK care regulations, first
DoseScan is built around CQC requirements and UK care workflows. Not adapted from hospital software. Not designed for ten countries.
Simple enough for a night shift
If a support worker on their first week can use it without training, we've done our job. Complexity is the enemy of compliance.
